As we celebrate Black Business Month, read what has inspired three of our customers to follow their entrepreneurial spirit and pursue their passion.

Tonika Snow-Anderson

Magnolia Home Décor | McDonough, Ga.

“I founded Magnolia Home Décor in August of 2018. After five years in the industry and three years running a stone fabrication company, I took an interest in natural stones and designing kitchens. I soon realized the industry did not have many individuals that looked like me. So, I wanted to learn as much as possible about the trades and get licensed as a general contractor. After two years in the construction and countertop industry, my business has grown into so much more. I have a design showroom where I sell cabinets, countertops, flooring and home renovations.

I am inspired by women such as Thasunda Brown Duckett, Rosalind Brewer and any woman that defies the odds to become what society thinks she cannot. A woman that is high-achieving in a male-dominated industry is very impressive to me.”

Terrance and Mechile Singleton

TJ’s Bookkeeping & Tax Service | Tifton, Ga.

“As a Black business owner for 18 years, I had to start small. Over the years, I have been able to build the business with prayer, hard work and determination. Now, I am proud to say we are a thriving business. I encourage all Black and minority business owners to never abandon their dreams. Dreams do come true.”

Shabreka Lewis & Shanieka Lewis-Lee

Sister/Sister Learning Center LLC | Albany, Ga.

“We serve our community by providing a safe learning environment for all children. This allows parents to work and feel comfortable bringing their children to our facilities. Throughout our 20 years of experience, we have learned that childcare needs go beyond the classroom. Therefore, we host annual events that serve our local community, including sponsoring families in need during Christmas and serving hot meals to families in need during Thanksgiving. We strongly believe in strengthening our community.

Starting this journey was not easy for us; we faced many challenges along the way. However, in those moments, we reflected upon those who came before us but were not given the same opportunities as us. That gave us great courage to continue.”
